Why shapes are important for children?

Teaching shapes to children is an important educational activity. The ability to recognize and describe shapes is a fundamental skill that provides a foundation for more advanced skills.


Activity #1

Handled Sponge Stamps

  • Shape Sponges
  • water paint
  • Scissors
  • Hot Glue


The kid will paint a figure in a white sheet using shape sponges and water paint of any color.

Activity #2

Shape Monsters

  • Color Markers
  • Glue
  • Tape
  • Collage Materials (chenille stems, googly eyes ,cotton balls, black sequins, and colored paper strips.)
  • Scissors


Children will create a monster with a shape and decorate it as they want.

Activity #3

Train track shape building


  • Wooden train track                                               
  • Printable cards


The child will chose a card shape and then observe if he can recreate it with his tracks.

Activity #4

Dot to Dot shape


  • Paper                                                                             Dot to Dot Shapes is a fun hands-on activity that your students or children will very much enjoy.

  • Crayons or markers


Children will use a marker or crayon to create their shape by tracing from one dot to the next.

Activity #5

Shape animal craft


  • Construction Paper
  • Markers                                                                        Dibujos
  • Scissors


The child will create an animal using contruction paper shapes.

Eco Material

Fish Shape

  • Paint
  • Googly eyes


The child will do a fish using recycle material, he will cut the plate doing a triangle for the fish mouth and paint as he want , and final draw some shapes in the fish.
